The Tiny Protagonist is an amalgamation of a knucklehead and several creative people who “do” rather than “talk about doing” and our mission is to bring many of the things we learn, discuss and execute in our Monday Night Screenwriting/Filmmaking Workshops to the pages of this blog in order to help other filmmakers, writers, actors and producers become better storytellers and moviemakers. You can read about the relaunch of our blog HERE.

Dane Reade is the self-proclaimed 157th funniest man alive. He founded Monday Night Writers Group in 2009 in Hollywood, CA. Now in it’s fifth year, the group has had writers place highly in major screenwriting competitions (Nicholl, Blue Cat, Scriptapalooza, Austin FF, Equal Writes etc.), received raves on The Black List, optioned scripts and gotten representation. Dane is a multi-hyphenate talent who is always working on feature spec scripts, writer for hire work and is currently in production on a web anthology called Conversations In Cars along with multiple other projects in development. His acting credits include co-starring in a feature length comedy that he was promised would result in his meteoric rise to stardom. He’s still waiting for Judd Apatow to call. He also co-created, wrote for and acted in the web series hit Lesbian Cops. Dane puts up with Lindsay’s sarcasm because she usually brings good beer or wine to Writers Group.

Lindsay Stetson is a former collegiate field hockey player and sports journalist who relocated from New Jersey to California in 2011 to pursue acting and writing. She has written several short films and is currently writing, producing and acting in the web anthology Conversations In Cars while working on feature spec scripts and her acting career. She relishes giving Dane a hard time but, if asked about it, would say that she simply calls him out on his bullshit.

David Aslan is a co-founder of The Tiny Protagonist, a thorough-bred Jersey boy and jack-of-all-trades behind the camera. He’s written and directed a wide variety of award-winning shorts and webseries, most recently the Youtube sensation and action movie spoof Lesbian Cops. His latest short Layover, which he wrote and directed, was workshopped through We Make Movies and produced through their second short film slate. You can also find David performing in independent comedy shows around Los Angeles with his improv team The Family Van.

Marwa Jad Owens is an opinionated consumer of all things pop culture and watches more television than any human The Tiny Protagonist has ever met, especially for a married mother of a young child. We aren’t sure how she finds the time but when we decided to add a weekend update on the world of television there was no question who we would ask to write it. Every Saturday morning, Marwa weighs in with her special brand of insight, opinion, news and recaps to some of the most talked about shows on television. And while she watches current hits like New Girl, Scandal and Homeland don’t be surprised if she decides to write a decade late recap of the Friends finale or logs into her Netflix queue and begins a binge viewing session of The West Wing. It’s all fair game.

kyleKyle Langan is a charming, happy-go-lucky narcissist who is curious and inspired by the human condition and the individual sagas that chronicle peoples’ lives – which really just means he’s a nosy bastard. He heads up the interviews for the Tiny Protagonist asking the hard hitting questions Barbara Walters doesn’t have the balls to spout off. When he’s not grilling notables of the film industry, Kyle is an actor, host, model and writer AND he’s from New Jersey too. Insert fist-pump. You can read his personal blog here.
